About Our Workshops
The Art Box opened in 2017 and is celebrating 8 years of summer camp this year! As our studio has grown up so have our students, so we created the Teen Summer Workshops to help our young artists continue to develop their skills and interest in art!
We offer two workshops: Teen Fired Arts and Teen Pottery Wheel Throwing. The fired arts workshop is immediately followed each day by the pottery wheel throwing workshop. The pottery wheel throwing workshop has more limited availabilty, so early registration is recommneded.
Our teen camps differ from our kids camps in that they focus on building artistic expression into each project using personalized color choices, composition or subject matter. We spend more time on each project, so students can fully immerse themselves in the techniques! Our experienced staff works with each student to amplify their interest in new techniques and art challenges. Plus, we often have local, professional artists from the community teach a class or visit during our camps to talk with the campers.

Frequently asked questions
My student is 12 years old. Should they join the kids camp or the teen workshops?
12 year old students may decide to attend the kids camp perhaps with younger friends or siblings. They may also choose to attend the Teen Workshops. 12 year olds joining the teen workshops should have a demonstrated interest in art, be able to work independently and have the attention span for longer project times.
What is your cell phone policy?
Cell phones are not encouraged at our workshops. If a student has a cell phone, they may ask permission to use it to pull up a reference photos or design ideas for a project. Any other cell phone use is prohibited without specific clearance by a staff member.
My student LOVES art! Can they sign up for both weeks of the teen workshops?
Yes, each week will involve the same projects, but for a student that attends both weeks, our staff has creative ways to help them change up their projects subject matter, colors or composition to create a different work or art with the same techniques.
